The substrate to be treated must be mechanically sound and clean. Remove all cement stains, traces of dust, loose particles, grease, oil, and release agents by sandblasting or washing with a high-pressure water pump. If the substrate to be waterproofed and protected with Aquaprotect is in very poor condition, remove the damaged areas manually or proceed mechanically through hydrodemolition. The latter technique, which uses high-pressure water, is recommended because the reinforcing bars are not damaged. Structures that are not subject to vibrations may cause small cracks in the adjacent concrete. Once the rust has been completely removed by sandblasting, repair with a pre-mixed repair mortar. Absorbent surfaces to be treated with Aquaprotect must be primed with Seal Primer . Existing tiled floors must be perfectly bonded to the substrate, and the tile surface must be free of substances that could compromise the adhesion of Aquaprotect , such as oil, grease, paint, wax, etc. To remove any material that might prevent Aquaprotect from adhering , clean the floor with detergent and water. The surface should then be treated with DCI Grip Primer.
